Hoka Conversation

Good spin class this morning and conversation about running and shoes with Willem, I will give my Hoka's some more time and work on running form.

  1. Let me know about the Hokas. My wife just bought a pair and has yet to run in them..however at the store she said they were the first pair of shoes she has ever tried on that she immediately wanted to go run in. Hopefully they help with her knee issues.

  2. I like the Hokas a lot, the cushioning is amazing, my husband call them the "memory foam" shoe. My problem is I'm a heel striker and I've been having heel pain with them. It's been so cold I haven't been out on the road with them in awhile. My spin instructor who also works at a running store says they are not meant for heal strikers and to work on more of a midfoot strike, so that will be the plan, I'll keep you updated.

    1. Yes..they are definitely made for mid to forefoot striking. I tried them on in the store and walking around I felt how deep the heel sinks when you landed on it..I can see where it may cause issues. I was a heel striker but changed to Newtons and that helped me to become a midfoot runner. Right nos I am running in Brooks Pure Cadence shoes. I may change to Hokas when these wear out.
